Newborn baby reportedly sold for Rs15,000 in Faisalabad

Tirkhani police in Faisalabad have arrested five suspects, including three women and the newborn’s mother, for their alleged involvement in the sale and purchase of a 15-day-old baby girl.

According to an FIR registered by ASI Zahid Bashir under Section 328 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2018, police were informed about the disappearance of a 15-day-old girl from Chak 50-GB.

During the investigation, police allegedly discovered that the baby’s mother, Sadia Bibi, had sold the infant to Perveen Masih and her husband, Irfan Masih, residents of Chak 51-GB, for Rs15,000, around 15 days after the child’s birth.

The FIR further says that the couple later allegedly sold the baby to Roopa Masih, wife of Sikandar Masih, a resident of Lahore, for Rs50,000.

The five suspects arrested by police include the newborn’s mother.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the alleged transaction and the circumstances surrounding the child’s disappearance.
