KARACHI: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight en route from Islamabad to Medina was forced to make an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi after developing a technical fault mid-flight.
The swift and skillful actions of the pilot averted what could have been a major aviation disaster.
Flight PK-713, a Boeing 777 carrying over 300 passengers, had been airborne for more than three hours when the fault occurred as the aircraft approached United Arab Emirates (UAE) airspace.
The captain, demonstrating exceptional professionalism, managed to stabilize the plane and safely divert it back to Karachi.
Upon landing, all passengers were safely evacuated and shifted to the transit lounge at Karachi Airport. PIA authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the nature of the technical issue or the current status of the aircraft.
Passenger Safety Ensured
Eyewitnesses and airport officials confirmed that the emergency protocols were executed flawlessly, with no reports of injuries or panic among the passengers.
The incident has raised concerns about the aging fleet of the national carrier, though PIA has maintained a strong safety record in recent years.
