Netflix is making this weekend an event, dropping a six-title slate that spans prestige drama, sports, true-crime, teen musicals and big-screen blockbusters.
Here is what Netflix is featuring:
- MY BRILLIANT CAREER
The top-left title is Netflix’s highly anticipated Australian drama series adaptation of Miles Franklin’s classic 1901 novel My Brilliant Career.
The six-part series is produced by Jungle Entertainment in association with the South Australian Film Corporation and was filmed at Adelaide Studios and across regional South Australia.
It follows Sybylla Melvyn, played by Philippa Northeast, an ambitious girl growing up in rural Australia in the 1890s who desires a grand career. Netflix released the official trailer on 20 July 2026 ahead of its global August premiere.
- MOURINHO
The center-top title is MOURINHO, the new limited documentary series on legendary football manager José Mourinho.
Described by Netflix as a “trophy-packed, insider-fuelled documentary” that charts Mourinho’s iconic rise, the three-part series explores his turbulent and trophy-laden career across the world’s biggest clubs.
It features interviews with Sir Alex Ferguson, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard, and launched globally on Netflix from 11th August 2026.
- A CHILD OF MY OWN
On the top-right is A Child of My Own (Un hijo propio), the latest film from two-time Oscar nominee Chilean director Maite Alberdi.
The film is a hybrid documentary-drama that goes beyond headlines to examine societal expectations on women.
When young Alejandra (Ana Celeste) endures multiple miscarriages and mounting pressure to have a child, she fakes a pregnancy — but the lie quickly spirals out of control.
It is based on a real incident that took place in Mexico in 2009 involving a nurse who abducted another woman’s baby.
- DON’T SAY GOOD LUCK
Bottom-left is Netflix’s new original film Don’t Say Good Luck.
The 2026 American musical teen drama film directed and co-produced by Julia Hart and co-produced by Adam Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Jordan Horowitz and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones follows high school student Sophie Birenbaum, played by Sunny Sandler, who is preparing to star as the lead in her high school musical.
The logline: “Sophie Birenbaum gets the lead in her high school show, but at the same time, her mom’s cancer comes back”. The film also stars Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield and Steve Buscemi and debuted on Netflix on 14 Aug, 2026.
- FALL GUY
Center-bottom is The Fall Guy, the 2024 American action comedy directed by David Leitch and written by Drew Pearce, loosely based on the 1980s TV series.
The film unites Hollywood stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt.
Gosling plays Colt Seavers, a stuntman past his prime pulled back into action and into a large conspiracy when the lead actor disappears, while Blunt plays filmmaker and love interest Jody Moreno.
It returned to Netflix’s global trending charts ahead of this weekend.
- THE SUICIDE SQUAD
The final title is James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021).
The film is a 2021 American superhero film based on the DC Comics team Suicide Squad, written and directed by James Gunn, a sequel to Suicide Squad (2016) and the tenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
It stars an ensemble cast including Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Joel Kinnaman and Viola Davis, following Task Force X as they are dropped on the remote, enemy-infused island of Corto Maltese.
From a literary classic reimagined for a new generation to the definitive portrait of The Special One, Netflix’s weekend slate is deliberately diverse — prestige, sport, social-issue documentary, family musical dramedy, and two of the biggest star-driven action spectacles of recent years.
