KARACHI: Rangers and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) are reported to have conducted a joint operation in the Jacob Line area of Karachi and arrested a suspected terrorist associated with the banned outfit Fitna-ul-Khawarij.
Officials said the arrested individual, identified as Shahzad alias Dungar, was taken into custody during the raid. They added that weapons and explosives were also recovered from his possession.
Rangers spokespersons further said that the suspect belonged to the Mansoor group of Fitna-ul-Khawarij.
The spokesperson stated that the group’s leader, Mansoor, previously lived in Kunwari Colony and Manghopir, but later went into hiding in Waziristan during earlier operations in Karachi.
According to the spokesperson, Shahzad alias Dungar joined Fitna-ul-Khawarij in 2025 following the alleged “brainstorming” of Mansoor.
Officials said the suspect helped convince people in Manghopir to provide funding for the group and frequently traveled to Waziristan to attend secret meetings with Mansoor.
The arrested man was presented for further investigation as authorities continued efforts to dismantle the network.
