KARACHI: In yet another shocking development, legal counsel for the family of slain 25-year-old entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali, advocate Jibran Nasir, has leveled serious allegations against the investigating authorities, accusing them of actively intimidating the victim’s grieving family rather than conducting a fair probe.
Addressing the media, Nasir revealed that police officials have been subjecting the parents to prolonged sessions inside police offices, attempting to force them into accepting a suicide narrative despite mounting physical evidence to the contrary.
Mir Raza case: Probe team axed after inverted bullet trajectory disproves suicide
Speaking directly to reporters, Jibran Nasir made a disturbing disclosure regarding the physical state of Mir Raza’s body, pointing to signs of chemical or unnatural damage.
– Sunken Facial Features: Nasir stated that Mir Raza’s eyes and face appeared severely sunken, suggesting that an unnatural substance or chemical may have been poured over the body to distort his features.
– Coercive Tactics: The lawyer alleged that police officers repeatedly told the parents, “It is our experience that your son committed suicide,” insisting that they drop their murder claims.
– Systemic Pressure: Nasir asserted that the family was forced to sit for hours while officials pressured them to accept the suicide narrative.
“The police are not investigating the case; they are harassing the victim’s family,” Jibran Nasir stated during his media address.
“We previously said that a thorough inquiry would clarify whether this was murder or suicide, reveal the extent of torture, and identify every individual involved in this brutality. Now, the forensic facts are exposing the truth.”
Re-Autopsy Validates Family’s Stance
The lawyer’s statements, it may be added here, follow the court-ordered exhumation and second post-mortem examination, which dismantled the initial police narrative.
Sources close to the forensic team confirmed that answers to all 14 points raised by Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed have been successfully established.
Key Forensic Confirmations:
– Rear Entry Wound: The re-autopsy officially confirmed that Mir Raza was shot from behind, making self-inflicted gunshot harm physically impossible.
– Signs of Severe Torture: Physical examination revealed widespread pre-death trauma, including broken ribs, facial marks, and bodily injuries consistent with violent assault.
Case Trajectory
It may be recalled here that Mir Raza vanished from his PECHS residence on July 28, and his decomposed body was recovered two days later in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
While police initially attributed the death to crypto-trading losses and suicide, a series of procedural lapses—including missing bullet casings, an abruptly altered medical board, and coercive police tactics—led to judicial intervention.
With the old investigation team dissolved and a fresh five-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) under DIG Crime and Investigation Aamir Farooqi taking over, the forensic findings from the exhumation are expected to form the cornerstone of the updated murder inquiry.
