KARACHI: A one-and-a-half-year-old girl is reported to have died following a sexual assault in Karachi’s Qayyumabad area. Police arrested the suspect, identified as a neighbor with family connections to the victim’s household.
According to details gathered by MM News, the tragic incident unfolded in Qayyumabad when the accused, who maintained domestic relations with the victim’s family, took the child from her home under the pretense of a brief outing.
Upon the girl’s return, her condition was critically deteriorated. Family members immediately attempted to transport her to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. During this critical period, the accused fled the scene, taking advantage of the chaos and urgency of the situation.
A medical examination confirmed that the child had been sexually assaulted. Despite receiving medical attention, the young girl succumbed to her injuries during treatment at the hospital.
The 15 Madagar Police station received information through the emergency control room regarding the incident and promptly mobilized its team to the location. Officers obtained initial details from the caller and began their investigation immediately.
Following the girl’s death and the suspect’s escape, the 15 Madagar Defense police unit conducted a coordinated raid on the accused’s residence and successfully apprehended him. The suspect has been taken into custody and transferred to the relevant police station for formal processing and further investigation in accordance with legal procedures.
A police spokesperson confirmed that all necessary legal requirements are being fulfilled as the investigation into this heinous crime continues.
