ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court of Islamabad has sentenced DIG Islamabad Jawad Tariq to 1 month in jail for not submitting the challan in the PTI protest case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra pronounced the sentence to DIG.
The court also ordered DIG Jawad Tariq to pay a fine of 100000 rupees.
While announcing the oral order of sentence to DIG Jawad Tariq, Judge Tahir Abbas Supra said that he will issue the written order shortly.
New development in written order
ATC Islamabad has now issued a final notice to DIG Operations before the sentence.
The court in its written order said that DIG Operations has committed contempt of court.

On the last hearing, DIG Operations Islamabad was issued notice under Section 37 ATA and written reply was sought, order said.
Despite the last notice, neither did DIG Operations appear in court nor submit a written reply, the court said.
According to record, prima facie sufficient material is available for action against DIG Operations Islamabad, written order said.
DIG Operations was legally bound to present the challan in court but he failed to do so, the court said.
Special Prosecutor and new investigating officer Inspector Zafar Iqbal requested a short adjournment to submit detailed report and challan, order said.
The court was informed that the investigating officer has been changed and court orders will be complied with in letter and spirit, written order said.
Interim challan was submitted by keeping names of accused Sohail Afridi, Junaid Akbar and Abdul Ghani in column number 2 due to their required arrest, order said.
ATC Islamabad has adjourned further hearing of the case till July 6.
It should be noted that despite multiple notices issued by the court, the challan of the case was not being submitted. A case has been registered against PTI leaders at Margalla police station.
