PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to move ahead with presenting a full annual budget for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on June 19, party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said on Thursday.
Speaking to a private television channel, Barrister Gohar confirmed that all members of the provincial assembly will attend the session and support the provincial government in passing the financial plan.
He said the budget would be prepared “in the public interest” and focused on the province’s development needs. PTI chairman also acknowledged that the party had sought consultation with PTI founder Imran Khan before finalizing the budget, but permission for a meeting was not granted.
Earlier reports had suggested that the KP government might present a six-month budget due to internal consultation gaps. Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had reportedly favored a shorter financial plan.
However, legal experts warned that not presenting a full-year budget could create economic uncertainty for the province. Party sources later clarified that the decision to proceed with an annual budget was taken in the wider interest of financial stability.
PTI KP spokesperson Shaukat Yousafzai confirmed that the budget will be presented in the provincial assembly on Friday, June 19.
The move signals an effort to stabilize fiscal planning in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa despite ongoing political tensions between the provincial and federal leadership.
