KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has ruled in favour of a woman in a long-pending dowry recovery case, rejecting the claim of her former husband in a case that had been pending for 19 years.

According to details, the court issued its final judgment in a dispute over the return of dowry items between a former couple, who were divorced in 2006.

The case was filed in 2007 when the woman approached the court seeking the return of her dowry, which she said included gold jewellery, furniture and other household items that had not been returned after separation.

Court records show that the matter remained under trial for nearly two decades before the Sindh High Court finally concluded the proceedings.

After reviewing evidence, witness statements and detailed arguments from both sides, the court rejected the former husband’s claim and issued a decree in favour of the woman, ordering the return of the dowry items.
