LAHORE: A woman has approached the Lahore High Court after registering a fraud case against her husband over the alleged sale of a vehicle given to her as dowry following marital disputes.
During the hearing, the court observed that the vehicle had been entrusted to the husband for use but was actually registered in the wife’s name. The court noted that the husband was merely using the vehicle, while ownership remained with the wife in Lahore.
The bench remarked that, according to the petitioner, the FIR was registered due to a family dispute, and the wife had already filed a separate case in the family court in Lahore claiming dowry items, including the same vehicle.
The court further noted that the complainant had herself described the vehicle as part of dowry assets in the family court case but did not mention the pending family litigation in the FIR. Records showed that the vehicle is still registered in the wife’s name in Lahore.
The court observed that the case appeared to stem from strained marital relations rather than clear evidence of fraud. It also stated that the accused had joined the investigation and no evidence of mala fide intent was found at this stage.
Justice Tariq Mahmood Bajwa of the Lahore High Court confirmed the interim bail of the accused on surety bonds worth Rs200,000.
