A massive fire broke out at a private plaza on Burns Road in Quetta, reducing dozens of shops to ashes and engulfing an electricity transformer in the blaze.
According to details, the fire at the private plaza on Prince Road in Quetta has been brought under control, and cooling operations are ongoing. Dozens of shops were destroyed in the fire.
Rescue officials said that six fire brigade vehicles and four PDMA vehicles took part in controlling the blaze.
PDMA officials said that fireballs were used to help extinguish the fire. The plaza housed various shops, including those selling computers, mobile phones, and garments, all of which were affected by the fire. Shopkeepers reported that goods worth millions of rupees were destroyed along with the shops.
Regarding the incident, the Chief Fire Officer said that the fire had also engulfed electricity transformers and wires near the plaza, which created difficulties in controlling the blaze.
This is the second massive in commercial centers in Pakistan in the last seven days.
On Saturday, massive fire broke out at fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza in which at least 23 people died while 65 individuals remained missing as the rescue operations continued.
Emergency teams are still combing through the charred structure, recovering bodies from the smouldering debris of the commercial complex.
The inferno, described as the city’s worst in more than a decade, broke out late Saturday at the multi-storey plaza, which contains around 1,200 shops and covers an area larger than a football field. Firefighters battled the flames for over 24 hours before bringing the blaze largely under control.
