Amid escalating tensions following a previous U.S. strike on Iranian territory, the Trump administration is now reportedly drawing up preliminary plans for a potential attack on Iran, including the option of large‑scale airstrikes on key military targets, according to multiple news reports.
According to NY Times, President Trump has been briefed on military options against Iran, after which the Trump administration has begun seriously considering strikes on non-military targets in Tehran amid ongoing protests in the country.
The New York Times, citing U.S. officials, reported that President Trump has not yet made a final decision to attack Iran but is considering authorizing military action in response to the Iranian government’s attempts to suppress the protests.
The violent protests in Iran have now entered their 13th day, leaving 65 people dead, including 15 security personnel.
However, the American magazine Time claimed yesterday that the death toll in the clashes has reached 217.
Recently, President Trump warned the Iranian leadership that if protesters are killed, the United States would respond with severe action.
Trump asserted that Iran is now moving toward greater freedom than in the past, and that the United States is ready to support this process.
