Police have arrested the main suspect in the brutal killing of a woman and her three children, whose bodies were recovered from a drain near Mai Kolachi Phatak in Karachi on Friday.
According to SSP Keamari Amjad Sheikh, the arrested suspect, Masroor Hussain, confessed to the murders of all four victims during initial questioning.
Police said that the deceased woman used to perform taweez gunday (amulet rituals), which allegedly caused the suspect severe mental stress.
SSP Amjad Sheikh added that the suspect admitted to the crime immediately after his arrest, while investigations into all aspects of the case are ongoing.
Earlier, the four bodies, found on Friday night in a manhole near the gate on Mai Kolachi Road, were identified as those of a mother, her daughter, and two sons.
The deceased, Anila, had left her home with her children on December 30 and went missing. On the night of January 2, the bodies of the mother and her three children were recovered from the manhole.
The victims were identified after Anila’s brother contacted the police. Police confirmed that the victims were a mother, her daughter, and two sons. The deceased woman was identified as 38-year-old Anila, her daughter as 13-year-old Kishwar Zahra, and her sons as 10-year-old Konain Ali and 15-year-old Hussain Ali, all children of Amir Mukhtar Ali.
The initial investigations revealed that Anila resided in Khayaban-e-Kharadar. On the night of December 31, she left her home with her daughter and two sons and went missing. Their bodies were later recovered from a manhole near Mai Kolachi gate on Friday night.
