Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has achieved a historic milestone in the development of Pakistan’s telecommunications sector by completing the acquisition of 100 per cent of the issued shares of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers.

With this transaction finalised, PTCL has formally assumed management control of Telenor Pakistan, signalling the beginning of a new era of digital empowerment and transformation across the country.

With immediate effect, Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will operate as wholly owned subsidiaries of PTCL, joining Pakistan Telecommunication Mobile Limited (Ufone 4G) and U Microfinance Bank within the PTCL Group. During the interim period, Telenor Pakistan will continue to function as a separate legal entity.

Following the completion of all required regulatory approvals, PTML and Telenor Pakistan will be merged into a single integrated entity at a later stage.

On this occasion, PTCL acknowledged the significant contribution of Telenor ASA to the growth of Pakistan’s telecom sector, stating that as both a competitor and a partner in the industry, Telenor played a key role for nearly two decades in raising service standards and expanding connectivity nationwide.

This milestone will enable both organisations to complement each other’s strengths and resources, creating a platform focused on customer-centricity, wider coverage and accelerated innovation.

The future merged entity, formed through the integration of PTML (Ufone 4G) and Telenor Pakistan, will be well positioned to expand network capacity, optimise spectrum resources, and deliver secure, integrated and digitally enabled services in line with Pakistan’s evolving digital ambitions and the changing needs of consumers.
