In Pakistan, Beep Pakistan (officially Backend Electronic Messaging Platform) is the country’s first homegrown secure communication application designed to replace foreign apps like WhatsApp for official use.
The app is fully certified and is set for a phased relaunch.
The first phase, focusing on federal ministries and their attached departments, is expected to begin within the next two months (early 2026).
Once successfully implemented at the government level, the application is expected to be opened to the general public after approximately one year.

Authorities aim to have the platform fully operational by June 30, 2026.
Unlike WhatsApp, all Beep data is hosted on local servers within Pakistan, ensuring national control over sensitive information.
Provides end-to-end encryption for text messaging, high-quality HD voice, and video calls.
The app is integrated with the federal e-Office system, allowing officials to share documents and manage workflows securely within a single digital environment.

It will operate on a usage-based fee model to ensure long-term financial self-sustainability for the National Information Technology Board (NITB).
Developed by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), the app’s primary goal is to provide a “WeChat-like” unified platform that eliminates risks associated with foreign data hosting and enhances cybersecurity for public sector communication.
