A change in captaincy is expected once again in the Pakistan Cricket Board, and according to sources, a decision is being made to remove Mohammad Rizwan from the ODI captaincy.

Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi’s name is the most favorite for this position, who is likely to take over the new leadership of Pakistan’s ODI team.

According to sources, the captain’s performance in various formats is being reviewed in high-level meetings of the PCB, and a new vision for the future of the ODI team is being considered. The proposal for a change has come after analyzing the overall performance of the team under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan.

Shaheen Afridi, who is known for his aggressive strategy and mentoring young players, has emerged as the strongest candidate for this position.

He had demonstrated his leadership skills while leading Pakistan’s T20 team in the past, which was praised by both fans and cricket experts.

According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board’s National Selection Committee will announce the ODI and T20 squads for the series against South Africa next week.

Babar Azam will once again lead the batting line-up in this series, while fast bowler Naseem Shah is also fully fit and returning to the team.

Babar’s return will prove to be an encouragement for the team, providing experience and stability in the opening order. Naseem’s inclusion will further strengthen Pakistan’s bowling line-up, which already includes experienced bowlers like Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali.

The selection committee has maintained confidence in young players Saim Ayub and Muhammad Haris, who showed impressive performance in the previous series; however, Khushdil Shah and Hussain Talat have been dropped from the team.

All-rounder Irfan Niazi is likely to be included in their place, who will represent Pakistan in his first international T20 match.

According to sources, the selection committee has prioritized a combination of experience and youthful energy in the squad this time so that the team takes the field not only with strong bowling but also with a dynamic batting line.
