Turkish First Lady Emine Erdoğan has expressed deep solidarity with the victims of the devastating floods in Pakistan, calling on the international community to urgently provide support to alleviate the suffering of millions affected.
In a heartfelt message shared on social platform X (formerly Twitter), Erdoğan recalled her visit to Pakistan during the 2010 floods, where she personally witnessed the pain and helplessness of families who had lost everything.
“Turkey was among the first to help Pakistan then, and even today, our prayers, hearts, and support remain with the Pakistani people,” she wrote.
She added that the Turkish Red Crescent is closely monitoring the situation and is coordinating immediate relief efforts, including the provision of food, shelter, water, and medical aid to the affected regions.
Erdoğan offered her prayers for the victims and urged the global community to show compassion and unity during this challenging time. “The wounds of the flood victims must be healed with humanity and compassion,” she emphasized.
According to the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the floods have submerged 1,769 villages, impacting 1.23 million people. At least 248,000 individuals have been displaced, and rescue operations are still underway in the flood-hit districts of Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Nankana Sahib, and Rajanpur.
Authorities report that 28 lives have been lost so far, though the swift efforts of the army, Rangers, and Rescue 1122 teams have helped save 148,000 animals and evacuate thousands of people to safer locations.
