Oman, along with other Middle Eastern countries and Russia, has become active, as US-Iran talks are set to be held today with the aim of preventing any possible conflict in the region, as reported by international media.
According to details, the US-Iran talks will take place in Oman today. Both countries have made a new nuclear deal the focus of their discussions. According to claims by Iranian media, indirect talks will be held between Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Wotkoff.
According to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, the discussions between the US and Iran will be direct. Earlier, US President Donald Trump’s envoy for the Middle East, Steve Wotkoff, had met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
It was reportedly during this meeting that Vladimir Putin assured the US envoy of his support for the US-Iran talks. After the meeting, the US envoy arrived in Oman to meet with Iranian officials and clarified that the US may seek Russia’s assistance on the Iran issue.
This is the first time for the entire region, including the Middle East, that the US and Russia are on the same page regarding talks with Iran. Previously, US President Donald Trump had given Iran a two-month deadline to limit its nuclear program and had threatened military action if the talks failed.
