A Dhaka-bound Flydubai flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) early Friday morning after a passenger on board suffered a serious medical emergency mid-flight.

Flight GZ 501, which had departed from Dubai en route to Dhaka, touched down safely at 3:20 AM local time and was directed to Bay 21, according to Saifullah, spokesperson for the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority.

The ill passenger, identified as a Bangladeshi national, was promptly examined by the airport’s on-call medical officer and subsequently transferred by ambulance to Aga Khan University Hospital for further treatment.

While ground staff were managing the medical situation, the aircraft developed a separate technical fault around 5:15 AM. As a safety precaution, all 159 passengers were disembarked and escorted to the airport’s transit lounge, where they were provided with assistance and refreshments during the unexpected delay.

Flydubai immediately mobilized a replacement cockpit crew and technical support team from Dubai to assess and resolve the issue. Following the completion of repairs and clearance from relevant aviation authorities, the flight was cleared for departure and resumed its journey to Dhaka at 1:21 PM local time.
