Umar Ayub provides detail of gas demand and supply

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Power Omar Ayub on Wednesday said that this year the federal government provided twelve percent extra gas as compared to the last year in December. 
In a series of tweets, the federal minister said, the supply to the domestic sector was at an average of  831 MMCFD in December 2018 by the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).  However, he said the government supplied 30 percent more in the first fifteen months of this month, and are supplying 47 percent more to the domestic sector.

In a statement on micro-blogging site Twitter, he said “Countrywide we were providing more than 12% extra gas compared to last year’s December.
“In the SNGPL system, supply to the domestic sector was at an average of  831 mmcfd in December 2018. In the first 15 days of this month, we supplied 30% more. Now we are supplying 47% more to the domestic sector.”

He further said all consumers are being provided gas apart from CNG stations. He added that CNG will be provided intermittently during January & fully in February.

The record-breaking and extended cold spell has resulted in pressure drops across the system which is expected to improve in a week, he added.

6. Supplies are being increased further within a week through new sources and additional LNG.
