ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr Zafar Mirza, has said on Wednesday the healthcare goals of 2020 set by the government including, polio eradication, disposal syringes and issuance of health insurance cards.
According to a statement, Dr Zafar said the state was facing severe issues in social sectors due to economic scarcity in 2019 however; the federal government is taking solid measures according to its healthcare vision.
The special assistant told the in the country the health sector had not only distributed health insurance as Sehat Insaf cards but also prolonged its capacity to other parts of the country by providing it to all deprived families.
He said the next goal is to provide the facility to half of the overall population of Pakistan by December 2020, he determined. Citing over poliovirus, Mirza informed that cases had been condensed to eight in 2017 but it was increased at the beginning of 2018 while 19 new cases were detected in 2019.
In the statement, he said the health ministry had reached 400 million children for anti-polio vaccination. hoped for achieving goals in December 2020 for polio-free Pakistan.
He determined the officials in the health sector, will eliminate clearance syringe till June 2020 by introducing auto-disable syringes that cannot be reused.
