Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that only Parliament has the authority to revoke the 26th Constitutional Amendment, rejecting the legitimacy of any other institution attempting to overturn it.
Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Bilawal clarified that the PPP is not part of the federal cabinet. “I am not a minister nor hold any government position, so my upcoming visit to the United States does not include any official agenda,” he stated, as reported by national media.
When asked whether Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would complete his five-year term, Bilawal responded, “Insha Allah,” but reiterated that the PPP remains independent of the federal cabinet.
Discussing foreign policy, Bilawal acknowledged the region’s complex geopolitics, particularly the relationship between the United States and China. He firmly stated that the PPP would never compromise on Pakistan’s nuclear program or assets, calling them the legacy of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
On the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), Bilawal suggested that prior consultation with media and digital experts would have been a better strategy before enacting such legislation. He urged the government to focus on building consensus to ensure smoother policy implementation.
