In the town of Jehaniyan, Khanewal district, students at Government Girls High School jumped from the second floor of the building after falsely being alerted about an earthquake.
A school teacher explained that construction work was ongoing on a nearby road, and the heavy machinery’s noise and vibrations caused panic among the students. In the ensuing chaos, more than 10 students were injured and had to be transported to the hospital by rescue services.
According to the rescue spokesperson, among the injured was 14-year-old Mehraaj Fatima, daughter of Hassan Abbas, who suffered a fractured leg. Other injured students included 10-year-old Nisha Naveed (daughter of Mohammad Naveed), who sustained a head injury; 13-year-old Zulekha (daughter of Habib-ur-Rehman), who had a clavicle bone fracture; and 14-year-old Laiba Kulsoom (daughter of Abdul Razzaq), who was semi-conscious when brought to the hospital.
Additionally, 13-year-old Mahnoor Nazakat (daughter of Nazakat Ali) injured her ankle, while 12-year-old Minsa Shoaikat (daughter of Shoaikat Ali), 13-year-old Faiza Ramzan (daughter of Muhammad Ramzan), and 13-year-old Anfal Tariq (daughter of Muhammad Tariq) also sustained injuries.
