South Africa is set to face Pakistan in a crucial three-match ODI series starting today, Tuesday, at Boland Park in Paarl. This comes just days after the host’s secured victory over the South Asian side in a Twenty20 International series.
South Africa clinched the T20I series 2-0 after the third match was washed out on December 14. The upcoming ODI series holds significant importance for both teams as they gear up for the ICC Champions Trophy, which Pakistan will host in February and March 2025. Later this month, the two sides will also meet in a Test series.
“This is a vital ODI series in terms of our preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy, and with Allah’s help, we aim to replicate our performances from the ODI series against Australia,” said Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan’s ODI captain, in a statement shared by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The last time the two teams met in a bilateral ODI series was in April 2021, when Pakistan defeated South Africa 2-1 on their home turf.
