A newly leaked audio of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and National Assembly member Ali Muhammad Khan has highlighted internal divisions within the party over its protest strategy in Islamabad.
According to a report by ARY News on Sunday, in the recording, Khan criticizes decisions made by party leadership, emphasizing that no one, including Bushra Bibi, has the authority to contradict the directives of PTI founder Imran Khan. “We should have adhered to the founder’s instructions and stayed in Sangjani as initially planned,” he remarked.
The audio, reportedly from a PTI parliamentary meeting, captures Khan questioning the change in protest location from Sangjani to D-Chowk. He also disapproved of Aleema Khan, rather than Barrister Gohar, announcing the protest, contrary to Imran Khan’s directive that leadership decisions be free of familial influence.
“I told the founder chairman that announcements should come from the leadership, not individuals like Aleema Khan,” Khan stated. He added, “Imran Khan has been clear that the party should avoid dynastic politics. Why then was Aleema Khan tasked with this responsibility?”
Khan further noted that while Imran Khan had instructed supporters to gather in Islamabad, the exact location was undecided until later. He expressed frustration over the eventual shift to D-Chowk, particularly given the leader’s opposition to separate protests in Sindh and Punjab.
Additionally, Khan criticized Bushra Bibi’s involvement in the protest, revealing that Imran Khan was unaware of her participation until Barrister Gohar informed him. “Imran Khan did not know that Bushra Bibi had joined the protest,” Khan said.
