ISLAMABAD: Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud arrived in Islamabad on his maiden visit and held a meeting with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
They discussed bilateral relations, matters of mutual interest and regional situation. Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have deep brotherly relations and the two countries are committed to further expand their relations in diverse fields.
The foreign minister thanked the Saudi Foreign Minister and the Saudi leadership for backing Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir issue. Both the foreign ministers agreed to continue their bilateral consultations on important regional matters, including Kashmir issue.
Earlier Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad on Thursday. This is his first visit to Pakistan after he was appointed as new foreign minister of the Kingdom.
According to a statement from the Foreign Office, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy a deep-rooted and longstanding fraternal relationship. The two countries are committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in all fields. Frequent high-level visits are a key feature of the relationship and serve to further deepen and broaden mutual collaboration.
Earlier in December, the prime minister arrived in Saudi Arabia on a one-day visit as a part of regular exchanges between the leadership of the two countries. The prime minister held bilateral discussions wit Saudi Crown Prince Mohmmad bin Salman and other members of Saudi leadership.
This was Imran Khan’s fourth visit to Saudi Arabia since May. He was greeted by Riyadh Governor Faisal bin Bandar Al Saud and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Raja Ali Ejaz upon arrrival, besides officials of Saudi protocol and officers of Pakistan Consulate.
