Proclaimed offender freed as police party attacked in Kasur

KASUR: A Police party was attacked in Punjab’s  Kasur as SHO and officials were held hostage, tortured and stripped of uniforms; proclaimed offender rescued.

According to officials, the incident occurred when the assailants intercepted a government vehicle carrying the police team.

The attackers allegedly took the SHO and other officials hostage, subjected them to torture and tore their uniforms during the assault.

Police further stated that the attackers managed to rescue proclaimed offender Shahzad, alias Shadi, from police custody. The accused was reportedly being transported by the police party when the group intervened and forcibly freed him.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The footage purportedly shows local people assaulting and torturing members of the police team.

Following the incident, police registered a case against 20 named suspects and 15 unidentified individuals on the complaint of the SHO. Officials said serious charges had been included in the case.

Further investigation is underway to identify all those involved and determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and the escape of the proclaimed offender.
