The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Consul General Bakheet Ateeg Al-Rumaithi has praised Pakistan for having an excellent mango crop.
He said that value addition could enhance its price and expand business opportunities.
While addressing the Future Summit in Karachi, Al-Rumaithi remarked that when an investor comes to the UAE, they are provided with facilitation but Pakistani investors face issues like visa complications and high prices. He stressed the importance of making processes as easy as possible for investors.
The UAE Consul General said that Pakistan’s mango crop is exceptional with a significant demand in Dubai. He suggested that value addition could improve its price and broaden the business prospects.
According to Express News, he pointed out that while Pakistani mangoes are sold for $10 to Dubai, after being repackaged, they are sold for $120. This highlights the need for value addition in Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
He underscored that this is not only the government’s responsibility but a collective effort. He added that when people travel from Pakistan to Dubai, every Pakistani asks for mangoes to gift to their families.
He advised any Pakistani wishing to invest in the UAE to approach the relevant ministry, which will then handle the necessary coordination.
