Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated film Jigra will now be released in cinemas on October 11. The release date was recently changed from the original September 27 after the makers of Telugu actor Jr NTR’s Devara: Part 1 announced their film would premiere on the same date.
The film, directed by Vasan Bala, known for Monica, O My Darling, and Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, promises a gripping story of ‘courage, passion, and determination’. The first teaser was released today, September 8.
In the teaser, Alia Bhatt portrays a fiercely protective sister whose brother, played by Vedang Raina, has been arrested in a foreign country. We see her engaged in intense action sequences, including running, dodging bullets, and fighting adversaries, all to rescue her brother. Manoj Pahwa plays her mentor, offering advice that focuses on survival over heroism, though Alia’s character is determined to be a hero. The teaser also features a recreated version of the classic song Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka, originally sung by Kishore Kumar for the film Hare Rama Hare Krishna.
Alia has co-produced Jigra alongside Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Reflecting on the project, she shared, “Just a little over a year later, we are ready to launch our second production – Jigra, a beautiful story of courage, passion, and determination. I hope to consistently support compelling narratives that are authentic, enduringly timeless, and work with brilliant creative minds to bring them to life.”
To keep viewers engaged, Alia has been regularly sharing posters of Jigra. Her look in the film has received praise from her mother-in-law, Neetu Kapoor, who commented “Wow fierce” on one of the posters, accompanied by a fire emoji. Alia also underwent basketball training for her role, adding to the film’s excitement.
