The Islamabad administration has once again revoked the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) public gathering scheduled in Tarnol on August 22.
Last month, the PTI announced the postponement of a rally planned in Islamabad after the district administration revoked its permission. However, Ali Amin Gandapur, a senior PTI member and Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, later said that the party would still hold a rally in Islamabad on August 22.
A notification from the Chief Commissioner’s office, dated August 21, cited input from law enforcement agencies and relevant departments, concluding that the current law and order situation in Islamabad does not allow for such a gathering on that date. Consequently, the NOC granted on July 31 by the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad has been canceled.
Despite the revocation of the NOC, the PTI plans to proceed with the rally in the federal capital tomorrow (Thursday).
PTI Islamabad President Amir Mughal emphasized that while the district administration had canceled the notification, “we haven’t canceled the jalsa.” He asserted, “A peaceful political struggle is our constitutional and legal right.”
