The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has started collecting municipal taxes through electricity bills, with K-Electric including these charges in the July bills.

Karachi’s Mayor Murtaza Wahab had earlier announced that the KMC would generate an income of Rs4 billion by collecting the Municipal Utility Charges Tax (MUCT) through Karachi Electric bills. This revenue is intended to fund development projects across all Union Councils.

Mayor Wahab also stressed his personal oversight of all financial matters related to the initiative, pledging to closely monitor both income and expenditures.
