In a remarkable act of bravery, Abdullah, a 29-year-old security guard from Pakistan and the UK, intervened in a violent incident in London’s Leicester Square on Monday. Abdullah, who works at the TWG Tea shop, sprang into action after witnessing a knifeman attacking an 11-year-old girl and a 34-year-old woman.
Abdullah described the harrowing moment, stating, “I heard a scream, and when I looked, I saw someone in their mid-30s stabbing a child. I immediately jumped on him, restrained his hand holding the knife, and managed to subdue him on the floor until the authorities arrived.”
The Metropolitan Police reported that the two victims were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 11-year-old girl required treatment for her wounds, while the 34-year-old woman sustained more minor injuries. The suspect, a 32-year-old man, is currently in custody. Authorities have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as terror-related and that the victims and suspect did not know each other.
Following the attack, a police cordon was established around the TWG Tea shop, which is located near the LEGO store and in front of the M&M store. Despite the heightened police presence and the disruption, families and tourists continued to visit the area. At least six police officers were present at the scene to manage the situation.
