The owner of the renowned Monal Restaurant in Islamabad, Luqman Ali Afzal, has written a heartfelt farewell notice to his 700 employees, announcing the restaurant’s closure following a directive from the country’s top court.
In the letter, which has gone viral on Facebook, Afzal expressed his deep sadness at having to inform his employees that Monal Restaurant will cease operations as of September 11, 2024, due to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ruling.
“It is not easy for me to say goodbye to you after an 18-year association; it feels like a father parting from his children,” he wrote.
In the Urdu letter, Afzal acknowledged the difficulties of unemployment and the associated challenges but stated that there was no alternative following the court’s decision. “I wish I could provide jobs for everyone overnight, but given the current financial crisis, the group can’t reassign you to other projects. Please accept this as a decision made by divine will and begin searching for alternative employment,” he wrote.
He also instructed the employees to collect all their dues before the deadline.
It should be noted that The Supreme Court has directed the shutdown of all restaurants within Margalla National Park, including the popular Monal restaurant and La-Montana, to protect the park’s biodiversity. The court ordered these establishments to cease operations and be removed within three months. This decision aims to reduce human impact and preserve the ecological balance of the area.
Earlier the restaurant announced by a social media post that it will shut down permanently on September 11, 2024, following a Supreme Court of Pakistan directive.
