LAHORE: The capital of Punjab saw record-breaking 350 millimeters of rain in just three hours on Thursday, shattering the previous 44-year record.
Severe rains have wreaked havoc, flooding roads and entering homes in the city’s Tajpura neighborhood.
The chief meteorologist of the Met Office described the rains as “torrential,” but added that Sindh had received more rain than Punjab, which was to be expected.
He also mentioned that Lahore is experiencing intense rainfall. “In comparison to Punjab, Sindh experienced more rain. However, this was anticipated.”
“Although the severity of this period is predicted to decrease, there will be sporadic rain until this evening due to a significant cloud mass. There will be rain in a few areas of the nation between August 1–6, he said.
A spokesman for the National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) said that most locations along the national highways are still experiencing sporadic rain.
