A fire broke out in a high-rise building on Sharea Faisal near the Metropole Hotel in Karachi has been doused.
The fire impacted the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th floors of the 16-storey building.
The fire was successfully extinguished through a coordinated rescue operation involving a snorkel and 12 fire tenders, including assistance from the Pakistan Navy and Rescue 1122. The affected individuals, which included two women, have been transported to a hospital for medical treatment.
Traffic, which had been redirected due to the blaze, has now been restored on the route from Jinnah Hospital to Metropole. Initially, traffic police diverted vehicles from FTC to Kala Pul to manage the situation.
The fire department reported that the fire has been contained and prevented from spreading further. All 50 occupants of the building were safely evacuated, and no additional people were reported to be inside. Earlier concerns about individuals being trapped were addressed, and the rescue operation was briefly paused due to heavy smoke.
