KARACHI: On Friday, arrest warrants were issued for 267 employees, including women, of the Sindh Health Department in Karachi for neglecting their duties related to the upcoming general elections.
The Returning Officer (RO) of PS-110-Karachi, South, Muhammad Hayyat, issued the warrants due to the employees’ prolonged absence from their assigned election duties.
The police have been instructed to apprehend and present the employees who have been absent from their election responsibilities. This action follows Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja’s announcement on February 1, where he stated that individuals attempting to disrupt the peace and obstruct the upcoming polls would face strict consequences.
Emphasizing that the General Elections 2024 will proceed as scheduled, CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja dispelled any confusion or misunderstanding.
He highlighted that terrorism poses a significant threat to the electoral process and assured that, despite security challenges, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is fully prepared for the elections on February 8.
The CEC expressed complete confidence in the capabilities of law enforcement agencies to ensure a secure electoral environment.
