PESHAWAR: Four more cases of polio-virus have been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to details, three cases have been reported from Laki Marwat and one from the Tank district.
The reports stated that an 11-month old child diagnosed with poliovirus belong to the Tank district, while three other children, aged between three to eleven months, were from Lakki Marwat.
The number of polio cases has reached 72 in the province. The most number of polio cases are being reported from KP. In July, a four-day anti-polio campaign was launched in eleven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Officials claim reluctance on the part of parents to immunize children against polio is the main reason behind the spike in the number of polio cases in Pakistan this year.
In 2014, the WHO made it mandatory for all people traveling from Pakistan to carry a polio vaccination certificate.

Pakistan is among the three countries in the world, including Afghanistan and Nigeria, where poliovirus still exists.
