Two months after the events of October 7, startling new testimony has surfaced, indicating that the Israeli military, employing gunfire, tank shelling, and guided LAU missiles, likely killed all but one of the 14 hostages held in a house in kibbutz Be’eri, including their Hamas captors. Hadas Dagan, the sole survivor, broke her silence to deliver this testimony, published by Israel’s Channel 12.
Yasmin Porat, who initially revealed the Israeli military’s involvement in killing civilians on October 15, was present in the house with Dagan but left with a Hamas captor before the Israeli shelling began. The revelations from Dagan’s testimony contribute to mounting evidence that the Israeli military might have killed some captives in kibbutz Be’eri and other Israeli settlements.
Dagan recounts the events of the Hamas attack, describing how she and her husband, along with Porat and her partner, sought shelter in their safe room. Al-Qassam fighters eventually took them captive and brought them to the house of a neighbor, Pessi Cohen, where they joined other kibbutz residents.

The captors used Suheib Abu Amer, a Palestinian bus driver, as a translator and informed the hostages of their intention to take them to Gaza. Porat attempted negotiation with the Al-Qassam unit commander “Hasan,” but the situation escalated when Israeli military jeeps arrived and opened fire on the house.
Israeli military actions resulted in the death of several hostages, including the Hetzroni twins. Porat vividly recalls the children’s screams during the attack. A subsequent gun battle between Israeli soldiers and Hamas militants led to Hasan’s surrender, who was forced to strip naked. Despite his capture, other militants inside the house refused to surrender, leading to further Israeli gunfire and LAU missile attacks. At this point, two neighbors, Ze’ev Hacker and Pessi Cohen, were identified as killed by the Israeli military.
