Barbie director Greta Gerwig has finally revealed how she chose Ryan Gosling for the role of Ken in the movie ‘Barbie’ starring Margot Robbie.
Greta admitted that she saw Ryan at Saturday Night Live (SNL) and since then, she has been eager to cast him as Ken. The director added, “You know those actors you can… just sort of feel that they know what’s funny, and I always felt that about him.”
The 39-year-old director revealed, during a chat in SmartLess podcast, that she wrote the character keeping The Notebook actor in mind.

“We actually, in writing it, cast Ryan, like we wrote his name into the script and everything… and [Gosling’s name] was everywhere.”
“And then when we handed them the script, the studio was like ‘Oh, it’s so wonderful that you know Ryan.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I don’t know Ryan. I’ve never met Ryan, I have no idea”, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, ‘Barbie’ has become the US and Canada’s biggest film of the year so far. An estimated $155m (£120m) was made in its opening weekend, the company said.
