ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has suspended by-elections on 27 seats of the National Assembly in Punjab, in compliance with the orders of the Lahore High Court (LHC).

According to an ECP notification, elections on 27 general seats would not be held till further notice.
The Election Commission also restored the membership of five female MNAs of PTI in light of LHC orders.
However, by-elections would be held in three constituencies of Islamabad scheduled on 16th of next month.

The notification also pertains to five NA reserved seats of women in the Punjab province and names of legislatures are: Aliya Hamza Malik, Kanwal Shauzab, Andleeb Abbas, Asma Hameed and Maleeka Ali Bokhari.
However, NA-52, 53, 54, which are located within the limits of Islamabad, will continue election activities there. The by-election will be held on March 16, as the court verdict does not apply to these constituencies of the federal capital.
