A TikTok influencer is alleged to have murdered two men including her mother’s 21-year-old lover who had blackmailed her with a revenge porn, a court has been told.
Saqib Hussain and his friend Mohammed Hashim Ijazuddin, both 21, were killed when their Skoda crashed into a tree after 23-year-old Mahek Bukhari hatched a plot with others to “set a trap”, prosecutors said.
Mahek Bukhari, who is known on TikTok as maybvlogs allegedly “set a trap” to stop 21-year-old Saqib Hussain from releasing the videos, stating she would get Hussain “jumped by guys” and that “he won’t know what day it is.”
Just before he died, front-seat passenger Mr Hussain made a 999 call to police claiming Mr Ijazuddin’s silver Skoda Fabia was being “blocked in” and rammed by attackers wearing balaclavs who had been following them in two cars.
In a recording of the call played to Leicester Crown Court, he said: “They’re trying to ram us off the road. Please, I’m begging you, I’m going to die.”
“That 999 call sparked a major murder investigation.” Mr Thompson told the court Saqib’s sister had revealed he was having an affair of three years with Ansreen.
Saqib’s mobile phone was destroyed in the fire, but police were able to retrieve data from the iCloud. Mr Thompson added: “The police were able to obtain access to his information on the iCloud form his phone and this is how the police pieced together their relationship.
“Between August 10, 2021, and February 9, 2022, Saqib had contacted Ansreen Bukhari 1,702 times. Ansreen contacted Saqib in this period 214 times too.
“The number of calls suggest there was a relationship between the two of them. Mobile phone information on iCloud showed that there was a sexual relationship between the two.”
The court heard the affair had recently ended but Saqib wanted to resume the relationship and continued to message and phone her. Mr Thompson added: “He became very obsessive and his anger went to blackmail when she was not answering calls.
Who is Mahek Bukhari?
Before her arrest, 23-year-old Bukhari had amassed more than 126,000 followers on TikTok and 43,000 on Instagram. The influencer gave fans an insight into her life showcasing her fashion style, make-up and jewellery. She also appeared in videos alongside her mother, Ansreen Bukhari, including one TikTok video which was titled “having an elite relationship with your mum.”
Mehek is charged with two counts of murder and an alternative charge of manslaughter alongside her mother and 22-year-old friend Natasha Akhtar who owned one of the cars involved.
It’s alleged that she “set a trap” to prevent Hussain from sharing revenge porn of her mother after she broke off their affair.
Reported by the Daily Mail, the pair had become involved in 2019. Collingwood Thompson KC confirmed that the relationship began as a “bit of fun” and that data uncovered by detectives had shown Hussain had contacted Ansreen 1,702 times between 10 August 2021 and 9 February 2022.
