ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reduced the power tariff for the resident of Karachi by Rs.4.89 per unit, applicable for a month only, while the same has been hiked Re.0.19 per unit for the consumers of ex-Wapda Distribution Companies (Discos), for the month of August.
The K-electric, it may be mentioned here, had requested reducing power tariff by Rs.4.21 per unit for its consumers of the Metropolis.
According to NEPRA notification issued in this regard, the negative Fuel Cost Adjustment would be applicable to all consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic consumers using up to 300 units, agriculture consumers, and electric vehicle charging stations
Regarding Disco rates, the Central Power Purchasing Agency had requested an increase in electricity price by 22 paise per unit, on which the authority held a public hearing on September 29. NEPRA decided to raise the same by Re0.19 per unit, applicable to all consumer categories except electric vehicle charging stations and lifeline consumers
NEPRA said that while effecting the fuel adjustment charges, the discos concerned shall keep in view and strictly comply with the orders of the court notwithstanding this order.
