ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has denied any role of his government in recent audio leaks, saying that even his own audio was leaked during these days.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, he recalled events that took place before April 9, 2022, which culminated in the ouster of Imran Khan’s government. He said it all started on the day a no-trust move was tabled, i.e. April 3, 2022, after which the then government crushed that move by Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri’s ruling. This was followed by Imran Khan’s speech in which he announced dissolving the National Assembly, and the summary to that effect was approved by the President within minutes.
Shehbaz Sharif referred to the recently-surfaced audio recordings saying the leaks had revealed Imran’s truth.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif claimed that the conspiracy in fact was hatched by Imran Khan, and that by the blessing of God, “we have received clean chit.”
He said two consecutive meetings of the National Security Committee declared that no conspiracy took place, but Imran Khan didn’t accept the verdict. He said by declaring his opposition parties as members of the imported regime, Imran Khan committed an act of treason.
He said Pakistan has suffered an irreparable loss due to acts of the previous government. Even a diplomat who called on me just 2 days after audio leaks, he said, wasn’t comfortable when holding a conversation at the Prime Minister’s House.
Shehbaz Sharif called Imran Khan a fraudster saying that he [Imran Khan] lied to the nation round the clock and played with the emotions and trust of the nation. He further said that Imran Khan took the country to isolation, breached his accord with the IMF and now his gang wanted that no one in the world could extend help the flood affectees.
He said the federal cabinet has already decided to probe the audio leaks, and relevant agencies would conduct investigations into the same. He promised that the entire nation would come to know about the facts behind these audio leaks in a transparent manner.
