The Deputy Speaker was summoned by the Supreme Court along with the election record

LAHORE: The Supreme Court has declared the petition against the ruling of the Deputy Speaker admissible and issued notices to the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Chief Secretary Punjab, and other parties and summoned them today at 2 o’clock.

According to the details, a 3-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, and Justice Munib Akhtar heard the petition of Speaker Pervaiz Elahi against the rolling of the Deputy Speaker in the Supreme Court Lahore Registry.

PTI’s lawyer Ali Zafar argued that the Punjab Chief Minister was elected yesterday in which Hamza Shehbaz got 179 votes and Pervaiz Elahi got 186 votes, but the Deputy Speaker based on the alleged letter of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain.

Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan said that the democratic traditions are that the parliamentary party decides which candidate to vote for. “We want to hear the Deputy Speaker in a personal capacity, the court summoned the Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly along with the election record,” he said.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court issued notices to all the parties by declaring the petition against the Deputy Speaker’s ruling admissible. The court issued notices to Hamza Shehbaz, Chief Secretary, Deputy Speaker Punjab Assembly, Deputy Attorney General, and Advocate General Punjab, and other parties and summoned them at 2 o’clock today.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has said in the petition that the Deputy Speaker has violated Articles 4, 5, and 63A of the Constitution and has given a decision against the majority opinion. Transgressed and violated his oath by ignoring the instructions of the parliamentary leader.

The plaintiff requested that the court should suspend the ruling and prevent Hamza Shehbaz from taking an oath and exercising the powers of the chief minister.
