There have been reports of Hollywood star Johnny Depp in talks of signing a deal worth $301 million to return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise as Captain Jack Sparrow.
Now, Johnny Depp’s team responded to a report claiming the actor is set to return to Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise after his defamation trial against Amber Heard. A representative for the actor was quoted as saying, ‘This is made up’.
Depp played Captain Jack Sparrow in all five movies, the latest one being the 2017 film Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. His career went down drastically when Amber Heard accused him of domestic violence.

He stopped getting movie offers after the smear campaign. The movies such as Fantastic Beast 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean refused to feature him. Depp sued his ex-wife and wife Amber Heard for $50 million for defamation after she wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post describing herself as ‘a public figure representing domestic abuse’.
Heard filed a $100 million counterclaim after Depp’s attorney called her claims a hoax. The jury awarded $10 million to Depp in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages.
On the work front, Depp is set to join his Hollywood Vampires bandmates—classic rock icons Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henriksen—for an overseas tour next year.
