Indian music record label and film production company T-Series has denied Pakistani singer Abrar-ul-Haq’s claims of copying his song ‘Nach Punjaban’ in the upcoming film ‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’.
In a statement, the music label addressed the matter on its social media handles snubbing Abrar’s claims, saying the song was legally acquired from the copyright holder.
“T-Series has legally acquired the rights to adapt the song Nach Punjaban from the album Nach Punjaban released on iTunes on 1st January, 2002 and is also available on Lollywood Classics’ YouTube channel, owned and operated by 1 Moviebox Records Label, for the film Jug JuggJeeyo produced by Dharma Movies. All due credits shall be included across all platforms when song released,” it said.
It maintains that “As represented by 1 Moviebox Records Label, the said song copyrights exclusively vest with Moviebox with all valid documents.”

Abrar-ul-Haq has called out Bollywood filmmaker and producer Karan Johar for stealing his popular song ‘Nach Punjaban’ without asking for his permission.
Abrar released a statement saying, “I have not sold my song Nach Punjaban to any Indian movie and reserve the right to go to court to claim damages.”

‘Jugjugg Jeeyo’ – which stars Anil Kapoor along with Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Neeti Singh and Manish Paul – is slated for release on June 24 this year.
There has been intense criticism on social media for flagrant plagiarism. Abrar-ul-Haq original ‘Nach Punjaban’ was released in 2002.
While written and performed by Abrar, ‘Nach Punjaban’ is sourced to Moviebox Birmingham Limited on Spotify.
