KARACHI: Retired Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has rubbished reports of taking back retirement, saying he is not thinking of anything in this regard.
Talking to Cricket Pakistan, the left-arm pacer said that currently, he has no intention of returning to international cricket. The 29-year-old is busy playing various leagues these days and enjoying life by spending time with his family.
Rumours were circulating that the pacer, who represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs and 50 T20Is, would announce his comeback after the fall of the PTI government and the expected changes in the cricket board setup.
It must be noted that Amir took a shocking decision of announcing retirement in December 2020, opting not to play under the management of then-head coach Misbah-ul-Haq and bowling coach Waqar Younis.
“I am leaving cricket for now because I’m being mentally tortured,” he had said while announcing the decision. “I don’t think I can bear such torture. I’ve borne lots of torture from 2010 to 2015, for which I served my time. I’ve been tortured by being told the PCB invested a lot in me.”
Previously Amir had also thanked Najam Sethi, who is likely to replace Raja, for helping him during a tough stage of his career. “I’ll just say two people invested in me a lot: [former PCB chairman] Najam Sethi and [former Pakistan captain] Shahid Afridi,” he said.
