KARACHI: One dacoit has been killed during a police encounter in the Model Colony area of Malir, and a policeman was injured in an exchange of fire.
According to details, Malir police claimed that an alleged police encounter took place in the Model Colony area. One dacoit was killed and a policeman was injured in the exchange of fire.
Rescue sources said that the injured policeman has been shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical treatment. According to police, a search is on for the fugitive accomplices of the slain accused.
SSP Korangi Shahjahan Khan said that at 5 am, the police received a report of the accused entering the house. Arriving on the spot, the accused were confronted and two-way firing took place.
Shah Jahan Khan said that the dead robbers had come in a white car for the incident. Rs 3.5 lakh and jewelry have been recovered from the possession of the accused. One accused was killed during the encounter. He said that a fake pistol along with 30 bore pistols was also recovered from the possession of the slain accused. Police Officer Farhan was injured in the two-way firing.
It may be recalled that earlier a case of a fake police encounter in which a youth was killed was registered in Orangi in which other accused including former SHO Orangi Town was named. Karachi police registered a case of fake police encounter at Orangi Town police station earlier this month. Former SHO of Orangi police station, Tauheed and Dost were named in the case.
