Apple has fired its employee for leading #AppleToo movement, an employee action against the harassment faced at the workplace.

The giant American tech company, Apple fired its program manager Janneke Parrish at the allegations of non-compliance, but Janneke refuses to the charges placed at her by the company saying that, she believed she was fired for speaking out publicly about issues within the company as a leader of the #AppleToo movement.

There are consequences for speaking out. There are consequences for doing the right thing.

But we do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. #AppleToo is about asking Apple to do better, to end systemic discrimination, abuse, and pay inequity.

While, speaking to news sources she further asserted that, “I’ve been very vocal, I’ve been very public. I have not been afraid to put my name and attach my face to #AppleToo .This feels very much like retaliation for having the courage to speak out.”

Moreover, Apple officials state that, they have terminated Jenneke Parrish for deleting the data on company equipment while she was under investigation. To which Jenneke clarifies that she has deleted only those files which contained her finances information before handing it over to Apple as a part of the probe.

Parrish said that her movement could lead to a negative impact on her career but she didn’t expect to get fired from the company on wrong allegations. “We have a culture of secrecy and loyalty to the company. Speaking out is seen as fundamentally disloyal, I knew from the moment I spoke out that my career at Apple would be more or less done.” She added.

However, Apple denies about the charges of harassment at the workplace and said that it is, “deeply committed to creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive workplace and it takes all concerns of employees seriously.”

Meanwhile, several former and current employers from the Apple company came forward on social media, to shed a light on facing discrimination, sexism, and racism at their workplace. Parish and some other colleagues have begun raising their voice by publishing stories on social media and a publishing platform in a weekly digest titled ‘#AppleToo.’
