Nine people were killed after the roof of a house collapsed in Lahore, trapping them under the debris.
According to rescue officials, seven people lost their lives while three others were injured after the roof of a house collapsed near Sukh Nehar in Baghbanpura, Lahore.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the incident and directed authorities to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured.
Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, two children were killed and two others injured when the roof of a house collapsed during rainfall.
In several cities across Punjab, heavy rains caused the roofs of dilapidated houses to collapse, resulting in the deaths of six people, including three members of the same family.
According to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), the highest rainfall recorded in Lahore was in Sagian at 143 millimetres, followed by Farukhabad with 141mm, Pani Wala Talab with 129mm, Upper Mall with 106mm, and Lakshmi Chowk with 94mm.
Rainwater accumulated in several low-lying areas, including Davis Road, Shadman, Shah Jamal, and near the Squash Complex by Governor House, affecting traffic flow.
WASA officials said water had been cleared from most affected areas, including Lawrence Road, Chowk Naulakha, Waris Road, Zawalahi Road, Nabha Road, Karim Block, Ravi Road, Haji Camp, and GPO Chowk.
Rescue officials said that in Garhi Shahu Railway Colony, a roof collapse caused by rain killed Moeen, his wife Noreen, and their daughter Fatima, while another daughter was injured. In the Bedian Road area, Aslam, Ahsan, and Mumtaz Bibi were injured after another roof collapse.
Four more people were injured when a roof collapsed near Milad Chowk in Shadab Colony on Ferozepur Road and were shifted to a hospital.
